PEDTE signs a memorandum of understanding with Solar Energe 20

Damascus, SNA – The Public Establishment for Transmission and Distribution of Electricity (PETDE) signed on Monday a memorandum of understanding with the American company Solar Energe 20 to implement two solar power installations.

The Director of the Establishment, Engineer Khaled Abu Dey, said that the memorandum includes the construction of two installations with a capacity of 200 MW, divided into two parts. The first 100 MW without relying on the storage system, while the second depends on the storage of electrical energy with batteries.

He stated that the time period for the implementation of the project ranges between one and two years for the full construction of the two plants.

For his part, the commissioner of the American company for the production of clean energy and water filtration, Wasim Obeidin, said that the memorandum signed today includes the establishment of a photovoltaic installation in Rif Dimashq to supply the electric power grid with 100 megawatts, and the second photovoltaic installation to supply greenhouses for hydroponic aquaculture and energy production. He noted that there is a plan to establish installations in Deir Ezzor, Daraa, Homs, the central region and Aleppo.
