Damascus, SANA- Damascus University has advanced up to 240 global rankings in 2025 US universities ranking by UniRanks, reaching 2576th place globally, up from 2816th place in the previous year.
Director of Damascus University Classification Office, Dr. Marwan al-Raei, told SANA Tuesday that this classification includes more than 37,000 universities worldwide, which are classified according to more than 100 criteria, including criteria related to scientific research, and the number of these researches published by the university in journals indexed at international databases, in addition to the quality of these researches.
Damascus University has been able to make significant progress, due to the increased numbers of researches published at international databases, in addition to more than 13 global studies over the previous period, such research related to artificial intelligence applications and environmental research, published by a number of university researcher Dr. al- Raei added.
Dr. Al- Raei went on saying that US ranking is concerned with quality of the educational process at the university in addition to criteria related to international cooperation between Damascus University and other global and international universities.
He also underlined that the US classification listed the best 114 Arab universities at the level of Arab world’s universities, which reached to more than 1,497, including Damascus University, and with this result, Damascus University is, for the first time, among the best 7% of universities worldwide.
It is noteworthy that Damascus University is currently within more than 18 international rankings, after it was limited to only four rankings at the end of 2023.
