Civil society organizations in Homs launch humanitarian initiatives for orphaned children and the elderly

Homs, SANA- On the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, and with the goal of bringing smiles to the faces of orphaned children and the elderly, several charitable and civil society organizations in Homs have carried out humanitarian initiatives that included recreational activities involving children and the elderly.

Abdul Fattah Hamza, Chairman of the Board of Directors for al-Birr and Social Services Association, stated to SANA’s reporter that clothes provided by the Turkish organization “IHH” and charitable commercial initiatives were distributed to registered families and orphans, benefiting around 1,000 boys and girls. In addition, gifts and toys were distributed to children in several neighborhoods of the city.

Hamza also noted that the association’s volunteers joined the elderly and those without family support at Dar al-Saada for the Elderly—housing more than 100 residents—to celebrate Eid al-Fitr.Civil society organizations in Homs launch humanitarian initiatives for orphaned children and the elderly

Razan Atassi, Chairwoman of the Board of the Child Care Association in Homs, highlighted that Eid clothes were provided for approximately 600 orphaned boys and girls registered with the association, along with monetary Eid gifts.

She also mentioned that during Ramadan, food baskets were distributed to them and their families, along with the continuation of monthly financial support.

Dr. Abdul Ghaffar al-Skaf, Chairman of the Board of Directors for the Khalid Bin al-Walid Charitable Association, indicated that Eid clothes were distributed to 750 registered orphaned children and their families.

Additionally, a celebration was held at the association’s headquarters for the children to promote values of unity and compassion within the community.

He added that graduates from barbering courses organized a free haircutting initiative for children as part of the Eid celebrations.
