Homs, SANA-With the coming of the holy month of Ramadan, Homs markets are witnessing active movement by citizens who seek to secure their needs and requirements in light of the availability of all kinds of goods and a noticeable decrease in their prices compared to last year.
SANA monitored the opinions of a number of citizens about the movement of buying and selling in the markets, as shop owners rush since the morning hours to open their shops, arrange their goods and classify them to meet the needs of consumers, and some of them market for their goods to attract attention and attract citizens in an atmosphere of joy and a sense of security with the first Ramadan they live in freedom.
Mohammad Al-Ashi, owner of a meat shop in the Karm Al-Shami neighborhood, told SANA that meat prices have decreased significantly compared to last year’s of Ramadan, indicating that the price of a kilogram of red meat decreased from 120 thousand Syrian pounds to 80 thousand pounds, and the price of a kilogram of (broiled chicken) decreased from 80 thousand pounds to 43 thousand pounds, in addition to the availability of imported chicken at prices Cheap competition enables citizens with low income to secure their families’ needs in this holy month.
For his part, owner of a sweets shop in Al-Midan neighborhood believes that prices are significantly lower than last year after the dollar exchange rate drop, and that sales are acceptable after prices fell by almost half for various types of sweets.
Hajj Abu Amin said that they were living in darkness and saw the light after liberation as all consumer goods are available, and there are no missing goods, and their prices are reasonable despite their variation from one store to another, but everyone is comfortable, while Azzam Baytar believes that everything is cheap but there is no cash among citizens.
Abdul Mohsen Al-Zeer adds that says after the fall of the deposed regime, goods are available everywhere, and food supplies became at acceptable prices, but the purchasing power of citizens is still weak.
