A polar air mass brings freezing temperatures countrywide

Damascus, SANA –Syria will be affected by a very cold polar mass starting today, and its effects will continue until the end of February, with temperatures lower than their annual averages by about four to seven degrees Celsius.

Experts in the weather Early Warning office of Syrian Civil Defense warned of frost forming in all northwestern regions, large parts of al-Jazzera, the coastal mountains, the western Damascus highlands and the Sweida highlands.

According to the meteorology experts, the extremely cold weather will be accompanied by cumulative snowfall on the western heights of Damascus, with weak chances of some rapid showers extending towards al- Badia regions and the heights of Sweida.
