Damascus, Oct. 9 (SANA) The SYNC’26 technology and entrepreneurship conference opened at the Damascus Opera House, bringing together experts from Syria and abroad to strengthen links between Syrian technology professionals and global companies.
Organized by SYNC in coordination with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the two-day event aims to expand employment and networking opportunities, promote knowledge exchange and connect Syrian talent with international expertise.
Speaking at the conference, Communications and Information Technology Minister Abdul Salam Haykal said Syria was working to strengthen its global connections and bring together the expertise of Syrians living abroad, while expanding telecommunications networks and improving service quality.
Haykal said Zain would begin operations in Syria within days and was preparing to launch an integrated fifth-generation (5G) network early next year.
Social Affairs and Labor Minister Hind Kabawat said the ministry was working to amend the Labor Law, which dates back to 2010, to bring it into line with contemporary needs.
The proposed amendments are being developed in consultation with trade unions, workers and employers, Kabawat said.
She added that the ministry was also working to amend the Social Insurance Law to strengthen the social protection system and adapt it to changes in the labor market.
Kabawat also highlighted the ministry’s digital services, saying its “Tasharuk” platform connects more than 3,500 associations. The platform is part of broader efforts to expand digital services and improve coordination between associations and relevant institutions.
