Tunis, Oct. 2 (SANA) The joint committee of experts from the Arab Councils of Interior and Justice Ministers concluded its meetings in Tunis on Thursday, with Syria participating in discussions focused on amending the 1983 Riyadh Arab Agreement for Judicial Cooperation.
In a statement posted on its official Telegram channel on Friday, the Syrian Interior Ministry said participating delegations evaluated proposed updates to modernize the 1983 convention, enhance criminal prosecution frameworks, and establish updated mechanisms for cross-border judicial coordination across Arab states.
Syria’s delegation was led by Attorney General of the Republic, Judge Counsellor Hassan al-Turba, and included Brigadier General Abdul Rahim Jabbara, Director of the International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Interior, during the two-day session held Wednesday and Thursday.
Delegates addressed practical strategies to strengthen joint Arab action against transnational crime, streamline extradition procedures, and optimize legal and security cooperation on shared judicial priorities.

Damascus’s active participation reflects its ongoing effort to deepen Arab multilateral cooperation in legal and judicial sectors, modernize counter-crime mechanisms, and align international security frameworks to combat cross-border offenses.
