Deir Ezzor, Sept. 10 (SANA) An 18-month project to remove and recycle debris from damaged neighborhoods in Deir Ezzor city was launched Thursday as part of efforts to support recovery and reconstruction.
The “Fajr al-Furat” project, supervised by the governorate and implemented in cooperation between the city council and Zoom Investment Holding Group, began in al-Roshdiyah neighborhood, where machinery started clearing rubble and rehabilitating damaged areas.
Deir Ezzor Governor Ziad al-Ayash said the project would recycle debris into materials that can be reused in reconstruction. He said the work would later expand to al-Bukamal and al-Mayadin, alongside projects to pave main roads across the governorate.
Zoom Investment Holding Group said debris would be removed free of charge from residential properties as well as public and private facilities.
The company said the project would remove destroyed and structurally unsafe buildings and recycle the rubble into materials that can be used in road construction, asphalt mixtures, non-structural concrete, paving stones and blocks.
The project is part of broader efforts to clear destruction left by attacks under the ousted regime and support reconstruction. A campaign launched in January in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) removed and transported 75,000 tons of debris from some of the city’s most heavily damaged neighborhoods.
