Deir Ezzor, Sep. 5 (SANA) Internal Security Forces in Deir Ezzor detained six people allegedly involved in unrest in al-Zir village following renewed clashes between two local families.
The arrests were made during a security operation carried out by the Internal Security Directorate in al-Basira district, with support from Special Tasks Forces, the Internal Security Forces said in a statement posted on Facebook.
It said the operation forms part of ongoing efforts to restore security and contain tensions in the village, adding that various weapons and ammunition were seized from those arrested.
Investigations are continuing before the suspects and seized items are referred to the competent judicial authorities, it added.
Internal Security Forces had intervened in al-Zir village on Friday to restore calm after clashes between two local families resumed over an earlier dispute that resulted in the death of a member of one family. The relatives of the accused had previously handed him over to the competent authorities.
