Damascus, July 21 (SANA)    The “NASTEX 2026” Syria International Textile Exhibition concluded on Tuesday evening at the Damascus New Fairground, organized under the patronage of President Ahmad al-Sharaa and featuring more than 300 companies from 20 countries, the organizers said.

The exhibition, which opened on Saturday, showcased the latest textile innovations and products, including fabrics, furnishings, curtains, furniture, textile manufacturing machinery, yarns, raw materials, digital transformation solutions and advanced industrial technologies.

Success in participation and organization

Fadi al-Muheimid, founder of the exhibition, told SANA that this year’s edition achieved significant success in participation and organization, with wide resonance at both regional and international levels.

He said the exhibition presented an integrated system for the textile sector, covering various stages of the industry—from raw materials and production lines to investment, entrepreneurship and smart industrial cities—reflecting the potential of the sector.

Business meetings, trade deals

Al-Muheimid noted that the exhibition provided a platform for business meetings and networking among participating companies, yielding positive results for exhibitors in sales and partnerships. He expressed hope that the next edition would see further development, enhancing Syria’s position in the global textile industry.

The support the exhibition received contributed to its success and achieving its goals, with indicators from this year’s edition reflecting a strong return for Syria’s textile sector and its openness to regional and international markets, he said.

Full occupancy, international participation

Executive Director Mohammad Badarna said the exhibition was supported by President al-Sharaa and the Ministry of Economy and Industry, providing motivation to present an event meeting international standards and reflecting Syria’s new image.

Badarna said the organizing committee worked to present a specialized exhibition meeting the level of major international events by attracting specialized companies and brands, and providing an environment conducive to partnerships and investments.

The exhibition achieved full occupancy with participation from over 20 countries, including economic delegations and international brands. Preparations included various logistical services for exhibitors and delegations, including hotel bookings, reception, transport, visas, security and organization, he added.

NASTEX 2026 served as an important platform for signing memoranda of understanding and attracting new investment to support Syria’s textile sector recovery, representing a significant step in repositioning Syria on the regional and international textile map and enhancing export opportunities for Syrian products.

The textile sector has historically been one of Syria’s most important industries, with Syrian textiles once exported across the Middle East and Europe. The sector has faced significant challenges due to years of conflict, but the exhibition signals growing confidence in its recovery.
