Damascus, June. 30 (SANA) Syria’s Information Minister Khaled Zaarour discussed with Turkish Ambassador to Damascus Nuh Yılmaz on Monday mechanisms for activating the memoranda of understanding signed between Syrian and Türkiye media institutions and converting them into practical programs and joint projects.

Both sides affirmed that Syrian-Turkish relations extend beyond traditional diplomatic ties and are based on shared interests and mutual cooperation across various sectors, including media and communications.

Information Minister noted that Syria and Türkiye face similar challenges, particularly disinformation campaigns, emphasizing the need to strengthen coordination and exchange expertise to address them effectively.

He also expressed Syria’s interest in benefiting from Türkiye’s advanced experience in media and government communications, particularly in developing government communication systems and strengthening cybersecurity capabilities, noting Türkiye’s extensive expertise in both fields.

Zaarour further stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in media research, academic exchange and professional training to support the continued development of the media sector in both countries.
