Damascus, June 25 (SANA) Syria has extended its deepest condolence and sympathy to the government and people of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela following the devastating earthquake that struck the country, claiming the lives of many people, injuries, and causing severe damage to property and infrastructure.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates expressed Syria’s full solidarity with Venezuela over this painful humanitarian situation, wishing the injured a speedy recovery and success for rescue and relief teams in their efforts to save lives and ease the impact of the disaster.

Venezuelan authorities announced that the death toll from the two powerful earthquakes that struck the country on Wednesday evening—only 39 seconds apart—has risen to at least 164 and more than 900 injured, according to preliminary figures, while rescue and search operations continue under the rubble of dozens of collapsed buildings.
