Deir Ezzor, May 29 (SANA) President Ahmad al-Sharaa arrived in Deir Ezzor province on Friday accompanied by a ministerial delegation to assess conditions and review humanitarian needs amid rising water levels in the Euphrates River and the resulting flooding.
The ministerial delegation includes the Secretary-General of the Presidency, the ministers of Local Administration and Environment, Energy, Health, Public Works and Housing, and Agriculture, as well as the Deputy Minister of Economy.
Syrian ministries have intensified emergency operations in the province as rising water levels in the Euphrates River continue to threaten infrastructure, residential areas and agricultural land across eastern Syria.
Water levels in the Euphrates River have risen sharply in recent days, prompting concerns about flooding in low-lying areas of Deir Ezzor province. Local authorities have issued warnings to residents in vulnerable areas and stepped up emergency preparedness efforts amid fears that rising waters could threaten homes, farmland and infrastructure along the river.
