Damascus, May 10 (SANA) Syria’s Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Hind Kabawat, said Sunday that 200 children of detainees and the forcibly disappeared have been reunited with their families after years in ministry care facilities under the ousted regime.
In a statement, Kabawat detailed that 110 children were from SOS Children’s Villages, with 90 others from additional facilities.
This marks progress by the Investigation Committee on the Fate of Detainees’ Children and the Forcibly Disappeared, which identified 314 such cases handled by security branches.
The committee now monitors 612 children placed with other families per Syrian law.
Minister Kabawat noted on April 10 that 194 children had already returned home, with many cases under investigation.
Formed under Resolution No. 1806 of 2025, the committee includes the ministries of Social Affairs, Justice, Interior, and Religious Endowments, plus victim representatives and civil society.
