Aleppo Countryside, April 30 (SANA) The National Commission for Missing Persons announced Thursday that it is closely monitoring videos circulating on social media, allegedly documenting the existence of a mass grave in al-Safira area of Aleppo countryside.
The Commission indicated in a statement that it immediately began taking the necessary measures to verify the accuracy of this information, in coordination with relevant local authorities and efforts to reach the site in question in order to assess it on-site and take the necessary measures to secure it according to established procedures.
It emphasized that any site suspected of being linked to missing persons or containing human remains is considered a site of special humanitarian and legal sensitivity, that must be handled according to precise standards that ensure the dignity of the victims, protect the rights of their families to know the truth, guarantee the integrity of evidence, and prevent any tampering that could affect documentation and verification procedures.
Earlier, SANA reporter in Aleppo said that a mass grave containing about 55 human remains, including women and children, was found in the village of Mazraat al-Raheb in Southern countryside of Aleppo.
