Damascus, April 26 (SANA) Syria’s Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), in coordination with Iraq’s General Directorate for Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances, carried out a series of operations in Damascus Countryside and Homs targeting an international trafficking network with regional links.
The Interior Ministry said in a statement Sunday that the operations led to the seizure of 1,730,000 captagon pills prepared for smuggling to a neighboring country, and the arrest of eight members of the network, including one woman.

Authorities said the operations were part of ongoing efforts to dismantle drug trafficking networks and tighten controls to prevent the movement of narcotics across borders.
The ministry added that DEA will continue coordinated actions with regional partners to pursue traffickers and limit the spread of illegal drugs.
The operation comes amid broader cooperation between Syria and neighboring countries aimed at combating drug trafficking and targeting networks involved in smuggling and distribution.
