Daraa, April 8 (SANA) The head of Syria’s General Authority for Borders and Customs, Qutaiba Badawi, visited the Nasib border crossing with Jordan on Tuesday to review operations and readiness as the government moves to expand capacity at the key transit point.
The authority said on its Telegram channel that Badawi reviewed procedures across various departments and assessed services provided to travelers and cargo.
The visit comes amid rising passenger traffic and increased volumes of goods moving through the crossing, a key route for trade between Syria and regional markets.
Officials were briefed on final studies for expansion projects, including enlarging cargo yards, rehabilitating existing lanes and constructing new connecting roads with the Jordanian side, the authority said.
The planned upgrades aim to reduce congestion and improve the flow of transit traffic across the crossing.
The Nasib crossing, located in southern Syria’s Daraa province, sits on a major international highway linking the Levant with Gulf states and has long served as a primary route for commercial shipments and passenger travel between Syria and Jordan.
