Aleppo, Feb. 27 (SANA) Syria’s Interior Ministry said it has formally taken control of the Internal Security Directorate headquarters in the northern city of Ain al-Arab, marking another step in integrating SDF-affiliated local security forces into state institutions.
In a statement posted on Telegram, the ministry said a delegation from Aleppo’s Internal Security Command toured the facility to inspect administrative offices and several affiliated police departments. The visit aimed to assess operational readiness and ensure the continued delivery of public services.
The delegation also held a meeting with representatives of the SDF Internal Security Forces, known as the Asayish, to discuss aligning local administrative and organizational structures with those of the Interior Ministry. The talks included a review of plans to complete the phased process, which is intended to consolidate command structures and reinforce institutional governance.
The move follows a January 30 announcement by the Syrian government that it had reached a ceasefire agreement with the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF). The deal outlined a broader framework for the gradual integration of SDF military and administrative bodies into state institutions and the transfer of civilian institutions, government facilities, and border crossings to state control.
