Aleppo, Feb. 22 (SANA) – Syria’s Minister of Economy and Industry Nidal al‑Shaar on Sunday chaired the first meeting of a newly formed task force in Aleppo, aimed at strengthening economic and industrial performance in the province.
The task force, established as part of a shift toward field-based executive action, will conduct structured on-site assessments of institutions and companies affiliated with the ministry, identify operational challenges, and implement immediate measures in coordination with local authorities, officials said.
Al-Shaar said the group’s mandate goes beyond administrative oversight to include direct diagnosis of economic and industrial conditions, rapid problem-solving, and the submission of proposals requiring central government support to ensure timely intervention.

He stressed that compiling an updated and comprehensive economic database for Aleppo is essential for effective decision-making, adding that weekly monitoring reports will be used to track progress, ensure accountability, and address obstacles as they arise.
Highlighting Aleppo’s historic role as a major industrial and commercial hub, the minister said the province will remain a central pillar of the government’s economic recovery strategy, with full coordination between the ministry, the governorate, and relevant stakeholders to deliver tangible improvements to production and market activity.
The task force was formally established earlier this month under a ministerial decision to accelerate recovery efforts, address structural challenges, and support industrial revitalization in Aleppo through targeted field operations.
