Dubai, Feb. 5 (SANA) Syrian Minister of Finance Mohammed Yisr Barnieh met on Thursday with International Finance Corporation (IFC) Managing Director Makhtar Diop on the sidelines of the 2026 World Governments Summit in Dubai to discuss supporting Syria’s reconstruction and reform efforts.
In a post on Facebook, Barnieh said the talks focused on strengthening the IFC’s presence in Syria through financing private sector projects, providing technical assistance to establish a knowledge center, and building capacities in public-private partnership initiatives to fund development projects.
The meeting forms part of broader Syrian engagement with international financial institutions during the summit. Earlier this week, the finance minister and the governor of the Central Bank of Syria also held discussions in Dubai with IMF Middle East and Central Asia Department Director Jihad Azour on expanding technical cooperation and completing its framework in line with national priorities.
