Damascus, Jan. 30 (SANA) The Ministry of Information reported that several journalists from regional and international media outlets had entered Syrian territory illegally through the Syrian–Iraqi border, particularly in areas previously under the control of the SDF organization, and practised journalism without obtaining the required official permits.
The Ministry stressed, in a statement issued Friday, that all land crossings and border areas in the Syrian Arab Republic, including those formerly controlled by the SDF, are under the authority of state institutions. Any unauthorised entry or journalistic activity without the necessary approvals constitutes a violation of current laws and regulations, subjecting offenders to legal accountability.
The Ministry stressed that issuing entry and work permits for journalists is intended to facilitate their tasks, ensure coordination with relevant authorities, and provide necessary protection for media professionals during their presence in Syrian territory.
The Ministry of Information called on all local and international media outlets and journalists wishing to enter Syria or conduct journalistic work there to fully comply with the legal procedures at border crossings and entry points, and to obtain the necessary permits from the Ministry, in order to safeguard their safety and avoid any legal consequences.
