Moscow, Jan. 28 (SANA) An expanded meeting that brought together Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa and President Vladimir Putin of Russia was held Wednesday at the Kremlin Palace in Moscow, in the presence of senior officials from both countries.
During the meeting, President al-Sharaa described as deep the relations between Syria and Russia, pointing to the importance of Russia’s role in supporting Syria’s unity and stability.
The president added that Syria had overcome major challenges during the past year, the most recent being the unification of its territory, expressing hope for a transition towards stability and peace.
For his part, Russian President Vladimir Putin welcomed President al-Sharaa, affirming his commitment to developing bilateral relations in various fields, particularly the economic ones.
He pointed out that relations between the two countries are deeply rooted and witnessing continuous development, and that the return of the areas east of the Euphrates to the authority of the Syrian state constitutes an important step in strengthening the unity of Syrian territory.
President Ahmad Al-Sharaa arrived in Moscow on Wednesday on an official visit to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on bilateral relations and the latest regional and international developments.
