Syrian security arrests two ex–military intelligence officers in Daraa

Daraa, Jan. 13 (SANA) Syrian Internal Security forces in al-Sanamayn, Daraa province, southern Syria, in coordination with the provincial Counterterrorism branch, arrested two individuals, the Interior Ministry said on Tuesday.

According to the ministry, initial investigations showed that one of the individuals served as head of studies at the Military Intelligence detachment in Kafr Nasej, in northern rural Daraa, while the other headed the same detachment until 2017 before later being appointed head of the Military Intelligence section in al-Sanamayn.

The ministry said the preliminary findings indicated the two men were involved in suppressing peaceful protests during the period when they held those posts.

It added that both suspects were referred to the Counterterrorism Administration to complete the necessary investigations and take legal measures in accordance with the law.
