Istanbul, Dec. 8 (SANA) Hundreds of Syrians in Istanbul marked the first anniversary of Syria’s Liberation Day on Sunday, holding a large public celebration that highlighted unity and national aspirations, according to Anadolu Agency.
The event, titled “Syria Breathes Freedom,” was organised by the Çemberlitaş Youth Center under the supervision of several civil society organisations, including the Arab–Turkish Association.
A theatrical performance titled “Syria for All” was staged during the gathering, presenting themes of national unity and rejecting division. Participants chanted revolutionary songs, while several Syrian poets recited works celebrating the revolution and the people’s victory.
Families of several martyrs who lost their lives during the Syrian revolution were honoured, as were several journalists who have reported on Syrian affairs, including an Anadolu Agency correspondent.
Across Syrian communities, Liberation Day is being observed as a moment of national pride. Syrians today are marking the first anniversary of the country’s liberation from the former regime, with thousands participating in demonstrations and celebrations since early morning to express their joy and hopes for a future based on peace, freedom and prosperity.
