Civil Aviation Authority holds talks with Lufthansa Group

Omar al-Husari, Chairman of the Syrian Civil Aviation and Air Transport Authority, met Monday in Damascus with a delegation from Germany’s Lufthansa Group to discuss restoring regular flights between Syrian and European airports and strengthening technical and operational cooperation.

According to a statement released by the Civil Aviation Authorities after the meeting, both sides discussed expanding cooperation in air-transport operations, ground services, and technical training.

Deputy Chairmen Abdul-Bari al-Saj and Amjad Nakhal joined the meeting to review requirements for updating aviation safety and maintenance procedures in line with international regulations.

The discussions also covered potential technical-service and maintenance-support programs aimed at revitalizing Syria’s civil aviation network and reopening routes suspended during the past decade.

Syrian officials reaffirmed the country’s commitment to restoring its connectivity with European destinations as part of national efforts to rebuild infrastructure and revive transport links.
