Information minister visits Patriarch John X Yazigi in Mariamite Damascus Cathedral

Syrian Minister of Information Hamzah al-Mustafa met with Patriarch John X Yazigi, Greek Orthodox Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, at the Mariamite Cathedral in Old Damascus on Monday, the ministry said in a statement released on its official Telegram channel early Wednesday.

According to the ministry, Minister al-Mustafa underscored the importance of “promoting a unified national identity” in public communication and reaffirmed the ministry’s mission to “develop a responsible media model that supports social cohesion and civil peace.”

The meeting also reviewed ways to develop professional capacity in journalism, particularly by engaging young media practitioners and experts to improve performance across public outlets.

Both sides emphasized the media’s responsibility in protecting Syrian national values, countering misinformation campaigns, and highlighting narratives that strengthen resilience and unity among Syrians.
