Colonel Dherrar Al-Shamlan, commander of internal security in Deir Ezzor province, said that a security member sustained serious injuries, Saturday evening, following an improvised explosive device (IED) attack in Al-Bukamal city.
“A member of the internal security forces was targeted in Al-Bukamal with an IED, resulting in serious injuries. A child also suffered a nervous shock due to the intensity of the explosion,” Colonel al-Shamlan said.
The Colonel added that this attack came just two days after an armed group targeted a bus transporting guards working at Ministry of Energy oil facilities along the Deir Ezzor–Mayadin road.
Al-Shamlan affirmed that this cowardly act will not go unpunished and that those responsible will face the harshest penalties. He added that specialized units are currently investigating the incident and pursuing those involved.
