Britain reiterates its support for transitional justice efforts in Syria

London, SANA-UK Special Envoy for Syria, Ann Snow, reiterated her country’s stance in support of “Accountability and Transitional Justice efforts”, on the occasion of International Missing Persons Day.

Snow said on “X” platform on this occasion: “The road to truth and accountability is still long for a large number of Syrians”, adding: “The International Day of Missing Persons is an opportunity to remember the missing and their loved ones and appreciate everyone who seeks a future of justice and hope”.

Snow referred to her meeting with Syrian journalist Kholoud Helmi who spoke about the suffering of Syrian families in the missing persons file and said “A year has passed since I sat and talked with Helmy, and since then a lot has changed, as the deposed Assad regime fell and many families were finally reunited”.

On the occasion of the International Day of Missing Persons, which comes on August 30, the International Committee of the Red Cross renews its call on all parties to collectively strengthen their efforts to address the plight of tens of thousands of people who are still missing in Syria.
