Swiss Federal Council removes economic sanctions on Syria

Bern, SANA-Switzerland’s Federal Council has decided to lift economic sanctions on Syria, ending restrictions imposed on some financial services, precious metals trading, and luxury goods exports.

“The Swiss Federal Council has decided to lift the economic sanctions imposed on Syria., the decision will come into effect at 6:00 PM local time on the same day.” the Federal Council’s website said in the text of the decision.

The resolution indicated that the names of 24 key sides involved in Syria’s economic recovery, including the Central Bank of Syria, were removed from the list of entities subject to the freezing of assets and economic resources.
