Minister al-Shaibani and his Italian counterpart discuss mutual relations and developments in the region

Damascus, SANA – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Asaad Al-Shaibani discussed, during a phone call on Tuesday, with the Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, bilateral relations and ways of developing them, as well as the latest developments in Syria and the region.

Minister Al-Shaibani emphasized the importance of continuing dialogue and consultation between the two sides to serve common interests, stressing Syria’s keenness to build balanced relations with friendly countries based on mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs.

For his part, Tajani expressed Italy’s support for stabilization efforts in Syria and his country’s interest in continuing coordination with the Syrian government in areas of common interest, including humanitarian and economic aspects.

“During the call, both sides emphasized the importance of respecting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity and the need to strengthen bilateral cooperation frameworks to contribute to achieving security and stability in the region”, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said on its Telegram channel.
