Recent positive changes in Syria, a hope for children, UNICEF says

New York, SANA- UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) announced Wednesday that the positive changes that happened in Syria over recent months, starting from the overthrow of former regime till assuming the power by President Ahmad al-Sharaa, represent an opportunity to make a great difference and renew hope for Syria’s children and strengthen national unity.

“These changes significantly reshape the durable landscape, creating opportunities for voluntary return of refugees (including the Palestinian refugees) and internally displaced people”, the organization posted on its web page.

The decision to lift sanctions imposed on Syria plays a crucial role, and once implemented, the results will be evident in terms of alleviating suffering of Syrians, achieving tangible progress in providing humanitarian aid, and contributing to recovery and reconstruction process, according to the report.

The organization highlighted several issues, such unexploded ordnance, reiterating its commitment to support children’s rights and supporting Syria toward achieving recovery, peace, and sustainable development.
