Lebanese president: Lifting U.S. Sanctions on Syria is a good option

Beirut, SANA-Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said during a meeting with a U.S. delegation in Beirut Monday that initiating the lifting of U.S. sanctions on Syria is a “good option.”

Aoun, as reported by the official Lebanese presidency account on the platform “X,” welcomed the decision to lift sanctions, emphasizing that improving Syria’s economic and overall conditions would help resolve the Syrian refugee crisis in Lebanon and other countries.

He also noted that “Syrian refugees should return to their homeland to contribute to its reconstruction,” calling on the United Nations to provide support and assistance for them upon their return to Syria.
