Syrian-Libyan talks to enhance financial cooperation between the two countries

Algiers, SANA-Finance Minister Dr.MohamedYesser Barnia met with Libyan Finance Minister Khaled al-Mabrouk, On the sidelines of the Islamic Development Bank Group meetings in Algeria.

Their meeting dealt with ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries in the financial field, develop the work of joint ventures between the two countries, and enhance economically and investment cooperation.

During their discussions, they developed an action plan to develop cooperation between the two sides, highlighting the reality of joint Syrian-Libyan companies and ways to advance them, develop their businesses and enhance their investments in Syria.

There are four federal companies between the two countries in the fields of reinsurance, agricultural development, contracting, and land transport, in addition to a fifth company, the Syrian-Libyan Agricultural Investment Company. The finance ministers of the two countries are the trustees of these five companies.

In a statement, Minister Bernieh indicated that Syria’s participation today in the annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank Group held in Algeria comes after a long hiatus, and he expressed his thanks to the bank’s management for reinstating Syria’s membership in the group.

Minister Barniah said that this occasion was important to congratulate the Islamic Development Bank Group on receiving an AAA credit rating, which reflects the strength and efficiency of the bank’s operations.
