New York, SANA- UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator (OCHA) ,Tom Fletcher welcomed US President Donald Trump’s decision to lift sanctions on Syria.
In his address to the 2025 Humanitarian Affairs Segment of the UN Economic and Social Council held Thursday, Fletcher said he welcomed the progress made in Syria regarding the lifting of sanctions over the past two days.
He added, “There is an opportunity to steer Syria toward a path of development, which is in the interest of the Syrian people and the region as a whole.”
