Saudi Arabia, Washington coordinate to lift sanctions on Syria

Riyadh, SANA-Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan announced on Wednesday that Riyadh is coordinating with Washington on procedural matters to lift sanctions on Syria.

“We welcome Trump’s decision, to lift sanctions on Syria,” Bin Farhan said at a press conference following the Gulf-US summit held in Riyadh, noting that Saudi Arabia will be a pioneer in supporting Syria’s stability, prosperity and economy.

Bin Farhan said that the meeting between Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, US President Donald Trump, President Ahmad al-Sharaa, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan emphasized the need to support Syria.

Bin Farhan expressed his hope that European sanctions on Syria would be lifted, noting that Syria has many opportunities to witness a major economic renaissance, stressing that the decision to lift sanctions was necessary for Syria’s stability and improvement of its situation.
