Disaster and Emergency: Turkish helicopters participate in extinguishing fires in Lattakia

Damascus, SANA -The Ministry of Disasters and Emergency Management announced that, after coordination with the Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Turkish authorities responded to the Syrian request and agreed to send helicopters to participate in extinguishing fires in al- Rabiaa area in the Turkmen Mountains, north of Lattakia.

The ministry indicated that the fires in al- Rabiaa area are still raging for the fourth consecutive day, and that there are growing fears that they could spread to populated villages due to strong winds and high temperatures, in addition to the difficult terrain and the presence of war remains that hinder the arrival of firefighting teams.

Yesterday, the Ministry of Disasters and Emergency formed a joint operations room with the Ministries of Agriculture, Defense, and Interior to control the fires raging in the forests of al- Rabiaa area in the Lattakia countryside.
