UN OCHA Office warns of ongoing dangers of mines and remnants of war in Syria

New York, SANA- United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) warned of the continued dangers of mines and unexploded ordnance (UXO) left behind in Syria.

“Contamination by unexploded ordnance, mines, improvised explosive devices, and other remnants of war continues to have deadly consequences throughout Syria after the fall of the former regime.” The UN News website quoted the UN Office as saying in a statement on Saturday.

The office went on to say that since December 8, 2024, more than 900 civilian casualties have been reported, including 367 deaths and 542 injuries, with children accounting for more than a third of these casualties.
