Jordanian business delegation discusses economic cooperation with Damascus Chamber of Industry and its Countryside

Damascus, SANA- – Chairman and members of the Board of Directors of Damascus Chamber of Industry and its Countryside, Eng. Mohammad Ayman al-Mawlawi, discussed with a Jordanian business delegation headed by the Chairman of the Aqaba Chamber of Commerce, Nael Kabariti, the areas and prospects for economic, investment, and trade cooperation between the two countries.

The two sides discussed the obstacles facing the flow of goods and the movement of transportation and transit between the two countries, the high fees related to logistics, such as port fees and others, which affect the competitiveness of Syrian goods, and the need to facilitate the transport of Syrian goods arriving through the port of Aqaba.

A number of members of the Chamber’s Board of Directors stressed the need to reduce customs duties on trucks to promote bilateral trade and increase exports. They also emphasized the need to allow Syrian vehicles to transport goods to Jordan, to reactivate previously signed agreements between the two countries, and to expand cooperation in various fields.

Regarding the Jordanian delegation’s meeting with Syrian President Ahmad al-Sharaa, Kabariti noted the positive atmosphere that prevailed during the meeting and expressed his thanks and gratitude to His Excellency the President for the opportunity to meet with him.

Kabariti affirmed the importance of joint cooperation between Jordanian industrialists and their Syrian counterparts in all fields, noting the desire of Jordanian transportation and logistics companies to help alleviate financial burdens and facilitate the flow of Syrian industrial materials from the port of Aqaba to Syria.

Both sides expressed optimism about the future of trade relations between Syria and Jordan, emphasizing the importance of communicating with relevant authorities in both countries to activate agreements and achieve common interests that benefit everyone.
