Qatari Foreign Minister: We are working with Americans and brothers in region to lift sanctions on Syria

Washington – SANA- Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, has reiterated his country’s call for lifting the sanctions imposed on Syria.

Speaking to Al Jazeera Channel after his meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Washington on Tuesday, the Qatari minister stated: “It is very important to lift the sanctions on Syria so that its government can function effectively and provide services to the brotherly Syrian people.” He added, “We are working with the Americans and our brothers in the region to lift these sanctions on Syria.”

According to a statement from the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, as reported by the Qatar News Agency (QNA), the Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister and the U.S. Secretary of State reviewed the strong strategic relations between Qatar and the United States and discussed ways to support and enhance them. They also deliberated on regional developments, particularly concerning Gaza, the occupied Palestinian territories, Syria, and Lebanon.
