Delegation from Interior Ministry visits Lebanon on boosting security cooperation

A delegation from the Syrian Ministry of Interior, headed by Assistant Minister for Security Affairs Major General Abdel Qader Tahan and accompanied by several ministry officers, conducted an official visit to Lebanon, as they met with Lebanese Minister of Interior and Municipalities Ahmad Al-Hajjar.

During the meeting, both sides reviewed existing cooperation between the two ministries and discussed ways to enhance it in the fields of security and policing.

The talks aimed to serve the mutual interests of the two brotherly nations and strengthen ongoing coordination to confront security challenges, combat crime and terrorism, and safeguard stability in both countries.

Both parties affirmed the deep-rooted fraternal and historical ties between the Syrian Arab Republic and the Lebanese Republic, expressing their commitment to elevating bilateral cooperation and coordination in a manner that fulfills the aspirations of both peoples and reinforces regional security and stability.

In this context, the delegation held several meetings with Lebanon’s General Security, Internal Security, and State Security Directorates.

Discussions focused on boosting security cooperation between the two countries, developing bilateral relations across various sectors, and exchanging expertise and modern security practices to enhance operational efficiency and serve mutual interests.

The participating parties affirmed the importance of continuous coordination and information exchange in internal security, crime prevention, and counterterrorism efforts, contributing to greater regional security and stability.

In a statement to SANA, Major General Tahan ststed that the visit is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security cooperation between Syria and Lebanon. The delegation included representatives from departments specializing in counterterrorism, criminal investigations, border control, special operations, and intelligence.

In a statement to SANA, Major General Tahan ststed that the visit is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security cooperation between Syria and Lebanon. The delegation included representatives from departments specializing in counterterrorism, criminal investigations, border control, special operations, and intelligence.

Tahan noted that the visit commenced with an extended session focused on enhancing security coordination, particularly in counterterrorism and anti-narcotics efforts, as well as facilitating the movement of citizens across borders.

According to Major General Tahan, bilateral sessions were held between relevant entities from both sides, resulting in practical understandings for information exchange and field coordination. The visit concluded with a final meeting with Lebanese Interior Minister Ahmad Al-Hajjar.

Tahan described the visit as a significant step toward an effective security partnership between Syria and Lebanon, reaffirming the Syrian Ministry of Interior’s commitment to deepening cooperation to confront shared threats.
