Arab Parliament: Israeli escalation in Syria and Lebanon poses a serious threat

Cairo, SANA-The Arab Parliament condemned the repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian and Lebanese territory, stressing that it constitute a flagrant violation of the principles of international law and a serious threat to the sovereignty of states and the stability of the entire region.

In a statement published Wednesday on its website, the parliament stressed that these unacceptable attacks are part of a systematic policy aimed at imposing a fait accompli by force of arms, in complete disregard for international legitimacy and relevant United Nations and Security Council resolutions.

It affirmed its full support for Syria and Lebanon in preserving their sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the safety of their citizens, calling on the international community to take urgent and immediate action to put an end to this dangerous escalation.

The parliament reiterated its firm position rejecting any practices that undermine the sovereignty of Arab states, as well as stressing that regional security can only be achieved through full commitment to international law, respect for the sovereignty of states, and non-interference in their internal affairs.
