France Welcomes the Ceasefire Agreement in Sweida

Paris, SANA-France welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire agreement in Sweida Governorate, calling on all parties concerned to strictly adhere to it and refrain from any unilateral action.

“Fighting and violence must stop immediately in Sweida, the safety of civilians must be ensured, and humanitarian aid must be resumed to guarantee the provision of basic services,” the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a statement published on its official website on Saturday.

The ministry stressed the need for “Syrian authorities to ensure the safety and rights of all segments of the Syrian people,” urging the Syrian authorities and Sweida leaders to resume dialogue to reach a lasting agreement that would contribute to Syria’s stability and sovereignty.

The statement added: “France reiterates the importance of conducting investigations into unacceptable violations against civilians, identifying those responsible, and ensuring that they are brought to justice without delay.”
