Turkish FM Reiterates Syria’s unity and stability

Ankara, SANA – Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan reiterated his country’s emphasis on Syria’s territorial integrity and stability, warning against the danger of its division.

In a television interview reported by Anadolu Agency, Fidan said that Turkey had monitored movements across Syria to exploit the events that took place in Sweida province, and warned against dividing the country. He said, “We must issue this warning because we want Syria’s unity and safety.”

Fidan pointed out that Turkey and other countries have repeatedly emphasized the need for the Syrian central government to respect the identity of all Syrians and uphold their rights, stating that no one should hold weapons outside of state control.

Regarding the clashes that broke out in Sweida province, southern Syria, recently, Fidan said: “Frankly, we see that Israel is obstructing the central government’s efforts to intervene impartially in the conflict between the Bedouin and Druze .”

Fidan stated that President Ahmad al-Sharaa implemented a comprehensive policy that exceeded expectations and stressed the need for the central government not to side with any party in potential conflicts between groups, but rather to intervene and punish officials when their involvement is proven, pointing out that President al-Sharaa intervened in these cases with the resources available to him.

He also stressed Syria’s importance to Turkey’s national security, stating that his country’s primary goal is to ensure peace, stability, and security in the region.
