Liverpool forward Diogo Jota dies in car crash in Spain

Damascus, SANA-Liverpool Football Club announced Thursday the death of its Portuguese international striker, Diogo Jota, following a road traffic accident in the Spanish province of Zamora at the age of 28, along with his brother, Andre.

Jota’s brother was 26 and also a professional footballer. He played for Portuguese second-tier team Penafiel.

In an official statement, the club confirmed that it would not be making any further statements at this time, out of respect for the privacy of the deceased’s families, friends, teammates, and staff, urging everyone to be considerate of their feelings during this difficult time.
