Portugal qualifies for 2026 World Cup after 9-1 win over Armenia

Portugal secured a place in the 2026 World Cup finals with a dominant 9-1 victory over Armenia at the Dragão Stadium, in the final round of European qualifying.

João Neves scored a hat-trick in the 30th, 41st, and 81st minutes, while Bruno Fernandes also netted three goals in the 45+3, 52nd, and 72nd minutes. Renato Veiga (7th), Gonçalo Ramos (28th), and Francisco Conceição (90+2) added to the tally.

The win confirmed Portugal’s top spot in Group F with 13 points, ahead of Hungary (9), Ireland (8), and Armenia (3).

Star forward Cristiano Ronaldo missed the match due to suspension after receiving a straight red card in Portugal’s previous game against Ireland.
