Ankara, July 8 (SANA) President Ahmad al-Sharaa met in Ankara on Wednesday with a delegation of U.S. members of Congress and U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Syria and Iraq Tom Barrack.

The meeting was attended by Foreign and Expatriates Minister Asaad al-Shaibani.

Earlier Wednesday, President al-Sharaa arrived at Ankara Esenboğa Airport, where he was welcomed by Turkish Trade Minister Ömer Bolat and several Turkish officials.

The visit coincides with the 36th NATO Summit, which is being held in Ankara on July 7-8 and hosted by Türkiye, as the alliance faces a range of regional and global security challenges.

Several leaders are attending the summit, including U.S. President Donald Trump, French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, and the leaders of Finland, Slovakia, Italy, Canada, Bulgaria, Albania and Montenegro.
