Presidency of the Republic condemns Israeli airstrike on Syria's presidential palace: dangerous escalation

Damascus,SANA- Presidency of the Syrian Arab Republic condemned in the strongest terms the Israeli airstrike on Syria’s presidential palace yesterday, describing it as ” a dangerous escalation” against the state institutions and sovereignty, stressing that this condemned attack reflects the continuation of reckless movements that seek to destabilize the country and exacerbate security crises, and targets national security and unity of Syrian people, adding that Syria will not compromise its sovereignty or security and will continue to defend the rights of its people by all available means.

In a statement published on its Telegram channel, the presidency called on the international community and Arab countries to stand by Syria in the face of those aggressive strikes, which violate international laws and conventions.

‘’Arab states have to unify their stances and express their full support for Syria in the face of those attacks, thus ensuring the preservation of the rights of the Arab peoples to confront aggressive Israeli practices’’.

The statement said. ‘’Those attacks targeting the unity of Syria, whether local or external, will not succeed in weakening the will of the Syrians or hindering the state’s efforts to achieve stability and peace in all regions, the Presidency said, noting that the competent security services are continuing the necessary investigations to punish those responsible for these attacks, and will continue to work firmly to prevent any threats that may target the security of the homeland and citizens’’.

Presidency of the Republic renewed its call on all parties to commit to dialogue and cooperation within the framework of the nation’s unity, and to confront all attempts of confusion aimed at prolonging the crisis, indicating that Syria is continuing the path of construction and development and that the wheel of reform will not stop, regardless of the challenges.
