Abu Dhabi, Aug. 16 (SANA) Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, Jordan, Egypt, Türkiye, Indonesia and Pakistan condemned Israel’s reported rejection of a roadmap for implementing President Donald Trump’s plan to end the war in Gaza, warning that such a position would obstruct peace efforts and undermine implementation.
In a joint statement carried by the UAE state news agency WAM, the foreign ministers stressed the need for continued US engagement to ensure Israel’s compliance with the plan and roadmap.
They held the Israeli authorities responsible for any consequences resulting from obstructing or delaying implementation, including worsening conditions in the Gaza Strip and disruption of efforts to end the war.
Full implementation, second phase
The statement called for the plan’s full and immediate implementation to address the humanitarian situation, rebuild the Gaza Strip, and achieve security and stability. It also urged progress on the second phase, which includes containing weapons, withdrawing Israeli occupation forces, deploying an international stabilization force, and transferring administrative authority to the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza.
The ministers reiterated their rejection of any attempt to deny the Palestinian people’s right to statehood. They said a just, lasting and comprehensive peace required implementing the two-state solution and establishing an independent, sovereign Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, in accordance with international law and relevant UN resolutions.
Call for immediate action
The statement called on the “Peace Council,” with US support and participation, to take immediate action to preserve the plan’s implementation and prevent its obstruction.
On Jan. 17, President Trump announced the formation of the Gaza Peace Council following the launch of the second phase of his 20-point Gaza plan by US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff. The phase included establishing a transitional technocratic Palestinian administration in Gaza.
On Jan. 21, the foreign ministers of the eight countries accepted Trump’s invitation to join the Gaza Peace Council.
