Ankara, Jan. 8 (SANA) Turkish Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmus affirmed that preserving Syria’s territorial integrity is a top priority not only for Syria but for the entire region, underlining the importance of implementing the March 10 agreement between the Syrian government and the SDF organization.
Anadolu Agency quoted Kurtulmus as saying onThursday: “Thee interest of the Syrian people lies in preventing any steps that could undermine the country’s unity,” calling on all Syrian components to be wary of attempts by some parties seeking to divide the region.
In the same context, the Turkish Ministry of Defense reiterated its full support for Syria in combating terrorist organizations, stressing that its position stems from the principle of preserving Syrian territorial integrity and unity, noting that the operation against the SDF organization in Aleppo is being carried out solely by the Syrian army.
The SDF organization has intensified its attacks since last Tuesday on Syrian Arab Army positions in the vicinity of the Sheikh Maqsoud and Ashrafieh neighborhoods of Aleppo, targeting civilian homes, hospitals, and infrastructure, causing a large-scale displacement from the area.
