Damascus, Dec. 16 (SANA) The Qatari Embassy in Damascus held a reception on Monday evening at the Dama Rose Hotel to mark Qatar National Day, with the attendance of several Syrian ministers and officials, heads of diplomatic missions, and prominent figures from the fields of economics, media, religion, culture, and the arts.
In his speech, Qatar’s Ambassador to Syria, Khalifa Abdullah Al Mahmoud, described the occasion as the anniversary of the founding of Qatar by Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed. He congratulated the state and people of Qatar on this significant milestone.
Ambassador Al Mahmoud also expressed his pleasure at holding the celebration in Syria, which he noted is moving toward stability, peace, and prosperity. He congratulated the Syrian people on the recent lifting of international and Western sanctions.
The Ambassador underscored the deep-rooted relations between the two countries and reiterated Qatar’s support for Syria’s stability and its active role in regional and international affairs.
In turn, Syria’s Emergency and Disaster Management Minister Raed al-Saleh and Presidential Media Advisor Ahmad Muwaffaq Zaidan told SANA that Qatar has stood by the Syrian people throughout the most difficult times, from the beginning of the Syrian revolution. They expressed, on behalf of the Syrian people, their deep appreciation for Qatar’s unwavering support and solidarity.
